The death took place suddenly at his residence on Sunday May 15 of Mr Jack Fitzpatrick, Lackey, Ballaghmore, Borris in Ossory.

His remains reposed at his son Tony's house until removal on Tuesday evening to Ballaghmore Church. Following Requiem Mass on Wednesday May 18 burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. The late Jack, who was predeceased by his wife Moira some years ago is deeply regretted by his son Tony, daughter Geraldine, brother, sister, daughter in law, grandchildren, relatives and friends. At the time of his death Jack was President of Kyle GAA Club, with whom he won many honours during his hurling days. Jack was also part of the Laois Hurling team which contested the 1949All Ireland Final against Tipperary.
