The late William Moore The death took place at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise on Saturday July 26 of Mr William Moore, Ironmills, Ballinakill. He was in his early 70s. A well known local member of the farming community he was a familiar personality at all the marts in Laois and Kilkenny and even further afield over many years. Imbued with a friendly disposition he was held in high regard by all who knew him and his death was learned of with sincere and genuine regret. Willie was a nephew of the late Tommy Moore a former Kilkenny hurler, and who was chairman for many years of the famed Faugh's hurling club in Dublin. One of the trophies for present day competitions in hurling the Tommy Moore Cup perpetuates his memory. The attendance at the removal of the remains to Ballinakill St Brigid's Church on Monday and again at the Funeral Mass and interment in St Brigid's Cemetery on Tuesday was amongst the largest ever seen here and was an eloquent token of the regret occasioned by his death, and the sympathy for his bereaved wife and family. The funeral Mass was concelebrated by Fr. PJ Nyland, SDB, Fr Liam Shore, Castlecomer and Fr John Bowe, Ballacolla. Deceased is mourned by his wife Mona, John and Tom, sons, Breda and Mary daughters, Eileen sister, brother Eamon, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, in-laws and other relatives and friends.
