Three-in-a-row chasing Portlaoise were forced to dig deep to shake off the challenge of Portarlington in an entertaining semi-final tussle at O’Moore Park today.

Injury-time scores from Gareth Dillon and Damon Larkin secured a 1-13 to 1-11 victory for the holders.

Brian McCormack’s return of 1-6 was also a major ingredient in their winning formula as they overturned a six-point half-time deficit.

His goal arrived via the penalty spot in the 35th minute.

Meanwhile, Ballyfin and Killeshin will have to meet again to determine who will face Portlaoise in the decider.

The scoreboard read Ballyfin 1-11, Killeshin 2-8 when the final whistle was sounded in the second semi-final.

The teams will renew acquaintances in a replay which will be played on Wednesday night.
