Laois hurling selector Niall Corcoran is confident that the O’Moore County can push on in 2020.

Eddie Brennan’s charges enjoyed a sensational summer, winning the Joe McDonagh Cup before stunning Dublin in their preliminary All-Ireland SHC quarter-final. Laois, who were eventually knocked out by would-be champions Tipperary, will be in next year’s Leinster SHC.

“The challenge is even greater next year but we’ve really good players and while they are young, they are hugely motivated and hugely talented too,” former Dublin hurler Corcoran told The Irish Sun. “So you’d hope that we can make some dent in Leinster next year anyway.

“It was a brilliant experience. I didn’t know what to expect going down there, I didn’t know much about the Laois boys but they are a fabulous bunch of players.

“So we’ve to ask ourselves the same question, ‘How can I improve?’. It’s a learning experience. We’ll probably be more in the spotlight next year too and you learn a lot more from that as well. But definitely, I enjoyed it.”
