The Mayo Ladies Board’s appeal against the leniency of the suspensions handed to eight Carnacon players has fallen on deaf ears.

As a result, the players, which includes Cora Staunton and Fiona McHale, will be eligible to line out in this Sunday’s championship semi-final fixture with Moy Davitts.

The Mayo Board had originally suspended the players for four weeks for bringing the game into disrepute following their much publicised exit from the county panel.

The LGFA National Appeals Committee subsequently reduced the bans to two weeks.

That decision didn’t go down well with Mayo officials but rte.ie reports that their appeal was rejected last night (Tuesday).
