After accounting for Castlebar Mitchels in their re-fixed Mayo senior ladies football championship clash on Friday evening, Carnacon faced a quick turnaround as they were back in action yesterday.

Knockmore gained a small measure of revenge for last year's county final loss by beating the All-Ireland champions, 2-9 to 1-4, to finish top of Group A.

Carnacon were once again without Martha Carter, Marie Corbett, Amy Dowling, Doireann Hughes, Sadhbh Larkin, Fiona McHale, Cora Staunton and Saoirse Walsh.

All eight players were suspended after they left the county panel during the summer over alleged player welfare issues.

However, that suspension expires next Wednesday and Carnacon will be back to full strength for their semi-final clash with Moy Davitts.
