Conor Cooney believes St Thomas’ are well placed ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland Club SHC final.

The Galway champions will lock horns with Ballyhale Shamrocks in the biggest club hurling match of the year at Croke Park and Cooney says they have the right mix of youth and experience, including many men who collected All-Ireland medals six years ago:

“There’s still a good core of the lads who were there in 2013 and there’s a few of the younger guys who’ve really come on and made a big impact as well,” the Galway attacker told gaa.ie. “We’re in a good place, there’s lots of guys, Eanna, Shane, Fintan Burke, Cian Mahony, David Sherry is another lad who was on the periphery, so, there’s younger guys who have come on and made a big difference to us.

“We’ve experienced it and we’ve been there but there are guys who were looking on when they were younger and they didn’t have the chance and they’re probably relishing this as an opportunity now, so it’s a good mix of experience and youth in our side. We’re in a good place.”
