A return of seven points from centre-back Paudie Foley was key as Wexford edged out Kilkenny by three points in today’s Walsh Cup semi-final clash at Bellefield.

It finished 0-16 to 0-13 in favour of Davy Fitzgerald’s men and they now switch their attention to a final clash with Galway next weekend on home soil.

A converted Harry Kehoe free gave the Model County a slender 0-8 to 0-7 interval lead.

No quarters were asked or given by either side through and both teams finished with 14 men.

Kilkenny’s Liam Blanchfield and Wexford substitute Jack O’Connor were issued with their marching orders early in the second-half.

A Martin Keoghan brace edged the Cats in front but Foley’s accuracy from placed balls - six of his seven points came from frees - swung the semi-final in his side’s favour.
