Galway claim inaugural Wild Geese Trophy

Galway came out on tops in a free-taking competition to win the Wild Geese Trophy at the Spotless Stadium in Sydney today.
GAA.ie reports that the Tribesmen produced an impressive second-half comeback against Kilkenny and the sides finished level – Galway 4-23, Kilkenny 3-26.
Missed frees from Jason Cleere and Conor Martin proved costly for the Cats and the 2017 All-Ireland champions prevailed by 4-3 in a free-taking competition.
It represented a remarkable comeback by the men from the west who had trailed by 14 points at one stage in the first-half.

Substitute Joe Mooney pounced for a late equalising goal for the eventual winners.
Cathal Mannion and Joe Canning - who was sent off in the 54th minute for a high tackle on Enda Morrissey - shared the scoring honours for Micheal Donoghue's charges with 1-4 and 0-7 respectively while Richie Hogan sent over 11 points for Brian Cody's side.
Highlights of the game will be broadcast on RTE 2 at 8pm tonight.
