Ballyhale Shamrocks captain Michael Fennelly may have it all in hurling, but the former county star stressed that his latest success outshines everything else.

Fennelly led Shamrocks to a 16th county title when they saw off the spirited challenge of a young Bennettsbridge side last Sunday.

This has been a transitional period for the county champions also and Fennelly told the Kilkenny People that even though this was his seventh county SHC medal, it was all the more pleasing than the rest.

“That was the sweetest one of all,” said Fennelly. “County finals are hard to get to - at 33 this could be my last one - but it was a sweet one to win.

“Being made captain made it all the more sweeter while having Colin and my cousins there made it a great occasion - this is a real family club, from Fennellys to Reids and Butlers.”
