Ballyhale Shamrocks are hoping that their county players who are travelling to Australia next week will return in time for the Leinster club SHC.

Having picked up the county title last Sunday, TJ Reid, Joey Holden, Colin Fennelly and Richie Reid are set to jet off with the rest of the Kilkenny squad to Australia where they are due to play Galway in the inaugural Wild Geese Trophy Exhibition as part of an Irish Festival week.

The travelling party are not due back to Ireland until Saturday, November 17th which is less than 24hrs before Ballyhale’s Leinster club clash against either Camross (Laois) or Wexford’s Naomh Eanna.

Ballyhale Shamrocks manager Henry Shefflin has hinted that seeing as this is a GAA driven break, it should be Croke Park who flies the players home a few days earlier, so they are properly recovered for the game.

“It would be vital for us to have them back with some time to recover,” Shefflin told the Kilkenny People. “The GAA, not Kilkenny County Board, have to be fair to the club.”
