Kilkenny captain Cillian Buckley has returned to training following a knee injury, but is still a major doubt for his club Dicksboro’s championship campaign.

The defending champions meet Ballyhale Shamrocks in the quarterfinal and Buckley will not feature in that game, but may play a part in the campaign, should Dicksboro advance.

The Kilkenny captain hasn’t featured for his club all year and although he had stepped up his training, it is believed that the talented defender suffered a setback.

Meanwhile, former Kilkenny captain Michael Fennelly was an unused sub for Ballyhale Shamrocks last weekend as he battles back from injury also.

The Kilkenny SHC quarterfinals see Dicksboro v. Ballyhale; James Stephens v. Erin’s Own or Carrickshock; O’Loughlin Gaels v. Clara; Mullinavat v. Bennettsbridge.
