Kilkenny captain Cillian Buckley looks set to sit out the remainder of the year with a knee injury.

Buckley looks set to miss the rest of the Kilkenny senior hurling championship with the knee injury that has troubled him all year.

Despite, playing the NHL and championship with Kilkenny, the 26-year-old sat out the opening round of the county SHL back in April and is now set to miss the rest of the league/championship.

Buckley has a damaged tendon under his knee and a lengthy spell on the sidelines is needed for the injury to heal.

Dicksboro are the defending Kilkenny champions and they will feel the loss of Buckley with their first game back after an 18-week break tonight (Friday) against James Stephens in Nowlan Park.
