Nowlan Park provided the setting for a mouth-watering national hurling league Division One final between fierce rivals Kilkenny and Tipperary.

After indifferent starts to their respective campaigns, both sides had found their form when it counts to power through to what promised to be an April decider to remember.

As if any added incentive was required when these two collide, the winners would secure a trip to Australia in November as well as the silverware.
