Brian Cody says DJ Carey is the right man to lead Kilkenny's U21 hurlers in 2018.
Five-time All-Ireland winner Carey was ratified to succeed Eddie Brennan in the post last month and hurling's most successful manager feels he can bring plenty to his new role.
"DJ's knowledge of hurling is supreme," Cody said at yesterday's draw for the quarter-final stage of the Top Oil Leinster Schools' Senior A Hurling Championship.
"DJ is coming in because he obviously wants to. He feels he can contribute and as a player and a competitor, he had everything.
"He has so much that he can bring to the role of manager of a team. Considering the respect he could command with anybody when it comes to hurling… I've spoken to him quite a few times and he's really relishing the challenge."
