Currim, Michael

June 30, 2005
The Late Michael Currim All Club activity in Eire Og-Corra Choill scheduled was postponed as a mark of respect to the Currims Family, Blacktrench following the bereavement of Michael Currim RIP. An accomplished, talented and committed hurler, Michael played at all levels for the club from U12 right through to the senior team and indeed captained the club's U12 team to success, an achievement he was immensely proud of. Michael represented the club with distinction at U14, U16 and Minor grades for Kildare and was always a strongly competent wearer of the famous white jersey. Only a potentially serious injury prevented Michael from playing with the club over the past three years. Michael was also a noted and successful boxer with the renowned Royston Boxing Club in Newbridge, a sporting activity which Michael thoroughly enjoyed in his younger days. His untimely passing has left an indelible mark of sadness and profound sense of shock on Michael's native townland of Blacktrench and indeed the greater community of Caragh Parish itself. The unprecedented number of mourners who were in attendance at Michael's funeral service in Caragh bore a ture and ample testimony to the popular esteem in which he was held by his fellow peers and club members in Caragh Parish and further afield. The club would like to take this opportunity to convey its deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Michael's parents John and JoJo, brothers John and Paul, sisters Olive and Louise and fiancee Denise at this trying and difficult time for all concerned.
