Quaid knows improvement needed

Kildare manager Joe Quaid knows that if his side don't improve on last weekend's performance, then their interest in the Christy Ring Cup won't last long.

The Lilywhites were red hot favourites to defeat Mayo last weekend and although they did get the necessary victory, they can count themselves lucky to be in the right side of a one point win.

Now, this Saturday, they face a Wicklow side that had a good win over London last weekend.

Quaid admitted to the Leinster Leader that the performance against Mayo was nowhere near good enough if they are to progress in the All-Ireland championship.

"I didn't have to say anything to the players, they knew they had put on a display that will not be good enough if they are to advance in this competition," said Quaid.

The Kildare manager has an injury concern over David Reidy who needed hospital treatment for a cut to his eye sustained during the Mayo clash.
