Ryan, Very Rev Fr Joseph Linus
July 23, 2009The death occurred of the Very Rev Fr Joseph Linus Ryan, O Carm, former prior of White Abbey in Kildare town.
The former Kildare minor footballer passed away at the age of 80 at the Beacon Hospital in Dublin. He was buried on Monday in Kildare town.
Fr Ryan was closely associated with the visits of the relics of St Therese of Lisieux to Ireland in both 2001 and last year.
He served as prior of White Abbey between 1991 and 1997.
He was also Prior Provincial of the order in Ireland between 1969 and 1976.
He was also a member of the Terenure College and Whitefriar Street communities.
Fr Ryan is survived by his sister Mary and brother Fr Aloysius Ryan, also a member of the Carmelite community in Kildare town.
