Naas chasing a hurling clean sweep in Kildare

October 05, 2019

Naas are winning all before them in the Kildare hurling championships in 2019.

Naas will seek to complete a clean sweep of Kildare hurling titles tomorrow.

Last month, the blue and whites won the JHC and IHC titles on the same day when they beat Broadford and Maynooth respectively. Tomorrow is another big day for the club who contest the MHC and SHC finals at St Conleth’s Park. The minors take on Maynooth at 1.45pm, while the seniors face Coill Dubh in the main event at 3.30pm.

Naas haven’t won a SHC title since 2002 when, ironically, they defeated Coill Dubh in the decider. But the recent success enjoyed by their underage teams, who have benefitted from playing in the Kilkenny leagues, would suggest that they will end that long wait sooner rather than later.

A quintet of county titles could yet be winging their way to the Kildare county town after their minor footballers thumped Celbridge on Wednesday night to qualify for yet another county final.
