Kildare captain Eoin Doyle has emerged as a major injury concern for his county’s Leinster SFC opener against Wicklow next month.

Doyle picked up the injury last Tuesday night whilst on duty for the Lilywhites against Roscommon in a senior football challenge which forced him to limp off the field in Robertstown.

Lilywhites boss Cian O’Neill told the Irish Independent that the injury is a “worrying” one ahead of the showdown with the Garden County on May 11th.

“He came off before he felt a full tear but he is definitely conscious that something happened,” O’Neill stated.

“The lads will assess it and we’ll see how it is but it’s an awful shame because he’s our captain, our leader.”
