Kildare manager Cian O’Neill has unveiled a 39-man panel ahead of the Bord Na Mona O’Byrne Cup campaign and star attacker Daniel Flynn is a notable absentee.
All-Star nominee Flynn admitted back in early November that he was undecided about committing to the county cause for 2019 as he completes a Masters in accountancy at Maynooth University.
The Johnstownbridge clubman hasn’t been included in the O’Byrne Cup squad which sees eight members of the Under 20 All-Ireland championship winning team join Aaron O’Neill, Jimmy Hyland and Mark Dempsey in the senior set-up.
The Lilywhites are due to play Carlow, Offaly and Westmeath in the group stages on the 15th December, 20th December and 5th January.
It is understood that O'Neill has added Kilkenny hurling great Michael Fennelly to his backroom team as a Performance Coach but the loss of Flynn's services is a big blow to their prospects in the new year.
