Kildare County Board have revealed that St Conleth's Park has been granted planning permission for a redevelopment.

The proposed upgrade of the Kildare county venue will include a new 2,600 all-seater stand, increasing its capacity to 15,000.

St Conleth's Park was at the centre of a heated stand-off between Kildare and the GAA during the summer, when the Lilywhites' home third-round Qualifier against Mayo was controversially fixed for Croke Park by the powers that be, citing Health & Safety reasons.

The slogan 'Newbridge Or Nowhere' was born, with Cian O'Neill and co. digging in their heels and insisting that they would not be denied home advantage. In the face of a public backlash, the GAA backed down and Kildare had their home rights restored before recording a famous 0-21 to 0-19 victory in front of 8,200 spectators on Saturday night, June 30th.
