July 10, 2008
The town land of Lerrig, Ardfert, and the parish of Kilmoyley were shocked and saddened when news broke of the untimely death of Mossy O'Sullivan of Lerrig Lough on Saturday, March 29th. Mossy had a great love of the parish and he took an active part in the landscaping of Lerrig Lough when the Kilmoyley GAA Club purchased part of the Healy Farm in 1984. Mossy was foremost as a volunteer in helping the development of it. He was always the first man there in the evening picking the stones, raking the ground, levelling the rough areas, often after a long day of work with a local farmer Mossy enjoyed life to the full. He took an active part in Glor na Gael competitions. Mossy was also an expert polka dancer: his rendering of' 'Kilmoyley By The Sea' was a joy to behold, his imitation of Denis Taylor wilh the cue stick, the day in the bog and much more. He enjoyed life io the full and never missed a hurling game in thc local sports field. He was also a very dcvout Catllolic and enjoyed the odd drink in 1the local. He was also a skilled 41-card player. He married the love of his life, his youthful sweethearl Norry and the loving couple were blessed with their three children Gerard, Kathleen and Florence. Mossy was a devoted husband, father and family man. Mossy didn't have a lazy bone in his body and was always to the fore, helping his neighbours and friends with the hay and silage whenever they needed. 1Mossie lived all his lite in his beloved Lerrig. Removal took place on Sunday the 30th of March from Gleasure's Funeral Home to the Sacred Heart Church in Kilmoyley. Requiem Mass took place on Monday the 31st of March with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Ardfert. Courtesy of The Kerry's Eye 10th July 2008
