The Late Timmy Clifford On New Year's Eve, the community of Blackwater was suddenly shocked to hear of the untimely death of Timmy Clifford, who died at his home. Timothy Micheál Clifford was born on January 28th, 1948, to Bill and Matilda Clifford, Raycoslough. Growing up in Blackwater, Timmy played football with the local club, Templenoe, and for Kenmare District Board with whom he won a Town's Cup medal in 1968. He emigrated to England in 1971 to Rugby where he worked in the building trade. He got married to Peggy Breen in Sneem 1972 but returned to England. Whilst in Ruby he became heavily involved in the Roger Casements GAA Club in Coventry and captained the club to the first ever Warwickshire County Championship in 1978. Following the death of his father, Timmy returned home to Blackwater in 1979 and he built his own house on the family farm. Timmy worked in the construction industry his whole life and has built houses throughout the whole area. Timmy remained and avid GAA man and resumed his strong involvement with the Templenoe Club, He was a player and Senior selector with the Senior team and club chairman for 12 years. He also was involved of the dressing rooms on the club grounds. Outside of football, Timmy enjoyed playing cards and doing a bit of fishing in the local Blackwater River. His tragic death is a huge loss to the Blackwater area and he will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Timmy is survived by his wife Peggy, sons Timothy, Barry, Damion, daughter Melissa, brother Billy, sister Kathleen, granddaughters Amber and Ciara, daughter-in-law Suzanne and son-in-law Simon.
