Brosnan, Con

March 14, 2007
The late Con Brosnan Great shock and sadness swept through Lispole as the news of Con Brosnan's death spread throughout the Parish. Con was liked and admired by all who knew him, he was as Fr Kiely said at his funeral Mass, everybody's friend. He was involved in many parish activities, playing corner back with Lispole football team for a brief period but it was in administration that he mainly contributed to the GAA. Serving as club secretary for many years in the 70's and 80's, during the development of the football field and Community centre. He was currently joint Offig na Gaeilge for the club. He also took part in Feile Lois poil, helping out in whatever capacity was required. In recent years he was instrumental in keeping Scor alive not just Lispole but also West Kerry, and up to the time of his death he was Scor officer with the West Kerry board having stepped down as vice-chairman of that board at the end of 2004. He took part in many Scor competitions, recitation, solo singing, ballad group, novelty act and quiz team, wither as quiz master or as a competitor. He was a regular in the Choir. He wrote the Lispole notes for the Kerryman for years, keeping every one at home and abroad up to date in what was happening in the Parish. However, it was as a singer and entertainer that he really came into his own as he loved to start up a Singing Seis'n whenever possible. He will be greatly missed by all his friends, neighbours but especially his family to whom I express my deepest sympathy. Ni beidh a leitheid ann aris. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
