The late Johnny Brennan A man of the land, who took great care of his holding and livestock all his life, Johnny Brennan, late of Ballyconry, who died at Kerry General Hospital on Friday, June 23, 2006, will be missed by his family and everyone in the community. He was born in Ahascra, on June 5, 1924 to Ellen and Dan Brennan an the family moved to Ballyconry in 1938, where he had attended the local national school. Johnny had four sisters and three brothers. Farming was his life blood but he also fished for four months every summer from Ballyouneen, to supplement his income. He also had the distinct honour of being a golden pin pioneer. He loved sport, especially GAA and greyhounds. He played for Ballyconry. Ballyduff, Kilcolgan, Faha and Shannon Rangers. He enjoyed watching football on the TV and was a great reader of the game, especially when Kerry were playing. His gentle demeanour and kind nature will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He was removed from O'Corroll's Funeral Home, Listowel, to St Theresa's Church, Ballydonoghue, on June 24, 2006 where his Requiem Mass took place at 11am on Sunday June 25, 2006. His remains were buried in the family plot in Kilahenny Cemetery. Johnny will be sadly missed by all his relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace. Courtesy of The Kerryman 27/07/2006
