Griffin, Aine

January 14, 2005
The Late Aine Griffin Aine Griffin of Marian Park, Dingle who died just two days after her 72nd birthday in New Year's Day was deeply devoted to Padre Pio and the Church. Originally Aine Moriarty from Curragraigue, Feothanagh, she worked as a telephonist in Dublin before transferring to Tralee to be nearer home. She was a familiar sight on the Dingle to Tralee road in those days because she travelled to and from work on a scooter. She married Donal Griffin in 1971 and they settled down in Marian Park. The marriage produced four children, three girls and a boy. Long before he son Tommy won his place on the Kerry senior football team she travelled all over the country to support his and his schoolboy team mates. And even though she was quite ill last September she still undertook the journey to Croke Park for the All Ireland final. Aine was dedicated to the Church and had a great devotion to Padre Pio. She was also involved in setting up the grotto at the Marian Park entrance to Dingle sportsfield. She loved cooking and baking and often cooked meals for elderly neighbours as well as visiting them. She became ill with cancer two years ago but had good respite periods during that time. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Sadly missed by her husband Donal, daughters Marie, Aine and Tina and son Tommy and her sister Mairin and brother Muirish. Courtesy of the Kerryman January 14th 2005
