The Late John Casey The death occurred on January 23 in Dublin of John Casey, formerly of Urban Terrace, Rock Street, Tralee, whose family were very well known in town. Born in 1915, John was son of Paddy and Ellen (nee Kerins). Before emigrating to the UK in the 1940s. John worked in Tralee Footwear at the Basin. He met his wife Chrissie, a native of Dublin, in London, where he worked with British Rail. There they raised their family of three girls - Helen, Margaret and Joan. John's hobbies were boxing and cycling and he was passionate about his local GAA Club, Austin Stacks. In fact his coffin was draped in the famous black and amber at his funeral in Dublin. With his family reared John and Chrissie returned to live in Tralee in the late 1980s. John took up employment at Tralee Sports Centre before returning to Dublin, where he lived until his death. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Chrissie, children, grand-children, sons-in-law, brother Paddy Paul (London) and sister Mary (Killarney). He is pre-deceased by his sisters Margaret, Julie Riordan (Killarney) and Eily Slattery (Tralee) and his brother Jerry (Tralee). John's funeral Mass took place in The Church of Our Lady of the Wayside, Bluebell, Dublin on Thursday January 27th. The chief celebrant was John's nephew Mons. Kenneth O'Riordan, Cremation took place afterwards in Mount Jermone Crematorium. Courtesy of the Kerryman 3rd February 2005
