Lisselton native laid to rest

John Pearse Boland (Sean), The Glebe, Ballina, Co. Mayo and Lisselton, passed away on Friday June 28th.

Sean, as he was known, was born in Lisselton in 1925 to Mary and John Boland. He attended primary school in Lisselton and then St Michael's College in Listowel. He was a keen GAA player and played for North Kerry in the Senior County Championship.
He studied chemistry for two years before emigrating to England in 1949. He continued to play football for the London Irish club.
In 1959 Sean met and subsequently married Nancy Casey. They emigrated to Australia where Sean then worked for General Motors. After retirement, he returned to Ireland and settled in Ballina. He was near the Moy River where his passion for fishing continued. Sean was predeceased by his brothers Donal, Moss, Pat and sister Phil.

Sean is very deeply missed by his wife Nancy, brother Der (Dublin), sisters Katsy and Norrie (USA), nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest in Ballinahaglish Cemetery, Knockmore.
