Brosnan, Lorna

November 01, 2012
Lorna lived her short life to the full; Lorna died suddenly on Sunday, October 7th, 2012, at the age of 22. She lived most of her short life in Gallowsfield, Tralee. Lorna was a beautiful, loving and caring young lady who lived her short life to the full. She attended her early school year in Balloonagh Primary School, moving then to Mounthawk Secondary School where she sat her Leaving Cert. Lorna loved children and wanted a role in life where she could be of assistance to them. She did a two-year course in Early Childcare & Education, then moved on to the ITT and made lots of friends there.

She had just begun another year in to gain an honours degree, and had spoken about working with children with special needs. Lorna was to graduate on October 26th at a conferring ceremony in the Brandon Hotel, Tralee. Lorna loved sport and other activities, she played underage Gaelic football with Austin Stacks and Kerins O'Rahillys. She also won a number of judo trophies, following in the footsteps of her mom Jane. Lorna was also a member of Joanne Barry's Dance school for a time. Lorna had a passion for travel and got the travelling bug at an early age. She went on her first family foreign holiday to Portugal at the age of 10. Apart from holidaying with family and friends in Spain, Portugal, Canary Island, etc. she also travelled to Paris and New York with her partner Patrick and they had just returned a short time ago from a trip to Rome. Her future travel plans included London and possibly Australia next year.

While studying for her degree, Lorna took up part-time work in Debenhams Restaurant. She also did work experience and relief work in various crèches around the county, where she made many friends. Typical of her age group she had a love for style and fashion, she had an obsession for shoes, which was evident by her vast collection. Her mom and dad were often amazed as to how she stayed upright and didn't fall over in some of the heels she wore. Lorna was very musically minded, she often spent hours on end practising on the accordion, given to her by her granddad, John Brosnan. They're both now making beautiful music in Heaven. Lorna was a loving and caring person, as was demonstrated recently, when she took part in a sponsored sky dive in Offaly for the charity 'I Life'. Lorna feared nothing and her great determination to achieve things in life made her the special person she had become.

She was a beautiful, loving, vivacious young lady, who would brighten your day with her bubbly personality. She had a welcome smile and a happy greeting for everyone. She would raise your spirit and cheer u up by meeting her and being in her company for even just a short time would put you in good form and help you forget your worries. Lorna loved socialising with her and partner Patrick's mutual friends, also her friends from college and work. She was fun, loving, caring, loved life and lived it to the full. Lorna touched the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her and will never be forgotten. The large turnout at her funeral is testament to her popularity and the high esteem in which she was held. She would have been so proud of everyone who came to say goodbye and especially all her friends from college and work, who formed the large guards of honour at her funeral. Lorna's untimely parting will leave a large void in all our lives, she is sadly missed by her mom Jane, step-dad Joey, dad Paudie, step-mum Margaret, sister Makaela, brothers Stephen and Padraic, partner Patrick, grandparents Theresa, Nuala, Tim and Christy, uncles, aunts, cousins, all her friends, college and work colleagues. May she now be granted her eternal reward and may she rest in peace. Lorna's month's mind Mass will be held at the Church of Our Lady & St. Brendan's on Wednesday, November 7th, at 7.30pm.
