Kennedy - Michael

January 25, 2012
Michael Kennedy of Kilkenny City and formerly of Knockane, Aunascaul, passed away on Friday, January 6, following a four year illness which he fought courageously to the end.

Born to Patrick and Mary Kennedy of Knockane, Annascaul, Co Kerry in 1940, Michael had on sister; Mary; and six brothers, Tom (RIP), Pat, Dan, John, Pete and Jerry.
Michael met and married Noreen O'Hara from Kilmoyley and after living in London for a number of years they moved to Kilkenny in 1976 and Michael opened a new Texaco service station in the city. Michael successfully ran this business until his retirement in 2000.

Though living in Kilkenny for the last 35 years, Michael was a proud Kerryman who enjoyed his frequent trips back home to Kerry and also to Croke Park to see the Kerry team in action.
During the 1980's Michael was a prominent member of Kerry Association in Kilkenny and the Kerry GAA jersey was one of the offertory gifts at Michael's funeral mass.

A large number of mourners from near and far attended funeral prayers at Michael's home. The funeral mass took place in St Fiacre's church in Loughboy, Kilkenny with burial in Foulkstown cemetery.
Michael will be deeply missed by his loving wife Noreen, daughters Teresa and Jackie and his son Michael; his grandchildren Lisa, Gerard, Owen, Rebecca and Chloe; sons-in-law Michael and Tommy; brothers and sister; brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and his many friends.

The family would like to thank all of those who attended the funeral mass and burial, especially those who travelled long distances.
The mass cards, letters and telephone calls were very much appreciated.
May he rest in peace.
