Josephine and Michael O'Rahilly of Leam, Kilflynn celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary in December 2008 but in the space of less than three weeks in April and May, they both passed to their eternal rewards.

Josephine died peacefully at Kerry General Hospital on April 20th and Mike died suddenly at home on May 6th.

Josephine had one sister, Mary and they were the daughters of James and Ellen Daughton of Leam, Kilflynn. She was born on June 6th 1947 and attended Kilflynn national school.

After leaving school, she worked at Mannix Shop in Clash Cross in Tralee for many years. She and Mike met at the Brandon Hotel.

The couple got married on December 28th, 1968 and they had one daughter mary. A homemaker who put the care of Michael and Mary before all else. Josephine enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and crocheting.

Over the past year, Josephine's health was cause of great concern and during this time she was a patient at Kerry General Hospital. Here she received wonderful care from the doctors, nurses and staff of the Scellig Ward and the Palliative Care Unit.

Mike was one of three sons born to Johnny and Debby O'Rahilly of Chutehall, Ballymacelligott. He was born on October 1st, 1939 and went to school before taking up employment with the construction company Fitzgerald Bros. He later spent 25 years working with Lee Strand Co-Operative.

In his younger days, Mike kept goal for his local club, Ballymacelligott, winning three Castleisland District League titles and in the County Championship. He retained a great interest in the GAA but also enjoyed gardening and having the odd flutter on the horses.

Josephine and Mike are survived by their daughter Mary, Josephine sister Mary and Mike's brothers John (Tralee) and Tom and Mossie (in Cork)
