Dan (Danny John) Curtin (86) passed away on Wednesday, 10th September, at his own home in Ballycommane, Tournafulla, Co Limerick. Danny was born in Ballycommane on the 17th of December, 1921 to parents were Daniel and Ellen (nee O Donoghue). There were 6 children in the family, John, Mort, Danny John, Peggy, Billy and Bridie. Danny John attended Tournafulla National School and had the distinction of being in first class at St Ita's college in Abbeyfeale when the school first opened in September, 1937. Danny John worked for thirty-seven years in Meenahella Creamery. He also did dairy farming, work he had a great love for. He married Lizzie Moriarity from Brosna, in 1959. Danny John and Lizzie had three children, Willie Joe, Aileen and Kathleen, Lizzie, sadly passed away in 1984. Danny john was outgoing and loved to socialise over a few drinks and listen to Irish music. He had an active brain, listened to radio Kerry and enjoyed reading the sports pages. He was greatly interested in all things to do with farming. He had an abiding interest in GAA and supported Limerick in hurling and Kerry for football and he had a huge amount of knowledge stored in his head. Friends and family recall that he could remember even minor Kerry team line-outs from way back, including people that were on the panel. It was a trait many remarked upon. Danny John was removed from Roche's funeral home, Tournafulla, to St Patrick's Church, Tournafulla. His requiem Mass was celebrated on Saturday 13th September by Reverend Father William O Gorman PP and he was buried in the adjoining cemetery.
