"Any time Kerry don't reach a semi-final, you're underachieving"

David Clifford's seamless transition from underage prodigy to senior star has been the main highlight of championship 2018 from a Kerry perspective.

No finger of blame for the Kingdom's failure to negotiate the Super 8s can be pointed in the direction of the Fossa teenager who delivered a 'man-of-the-match' performance in yesterday's win over Kildare.

"It's tough," he commented to Sky Sports.

"We knew we could only do our own job today. It's raw. It's down to ourselves - we shouldn't have left it go out of our own hands. That's what we did - we didn't perform against Galway. It's tough, but that's the way it is.
