Eamonn Fitzmaurice believes his departure from the Kerry hot-seat will 'remove some of the over-the-top negativity' that was aimed at his players in recent weeks.
The Kingdom are on the hunt for a new senior football manager following their exit from this year's All-Ireland SFC.
"I was telling the players I've been in the job for six years," Fitzmaurice remarked to the Sunday Independent following last night's 12-point victory over Kildare.
"I've given it everything I have. I think there are very good foundations there for the future.
"I think a change of voice and a change of direction will be good.
"I also think by taking me out of the equation, it can remove some of the over-the-top negativity that was coming at the team, which I feel was unfair."
