Eoghan Collins and Clare face the daunting task of trying to curb a potent Kerry attack in Fitzgerald Stadium tomorrow but the corner-back is looking forward to the challenge.

Kingdom boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice has named a full-forward line of David Clifford, Paul Geaney and James O'Donoghue and Mayo native Collins accepts that they will have to produce a big performance if they are to pull off a shock result.

"Everyone knows what's facing us, especially going down to Killarney but we'll set our own targets and try and hit them, if we do that you never know what might happen," he remarked to the Irish Independent.

After accepting an invite from his uncle Colm to switch county allegiance, Collins found himself in the unusual position of lining up opposite his Ballyhaunis clubmate Keith Higgins in last summer's qualifier clash which Mayo won by 2-14 to 0-13.

"With Keith playing with the footballers and lots of clubmates playing hurling, you'd always be in touch with what's going on back home and it was definitely an interesting day playing against them.

"It's something I wouldn't have imagined in my wildest dreams."
