A former All-Ireland winner, Offaly Rose Jennifer Byrne was crowned the 58th International Rose of Tralee tonight.

Hailing from right beside the Offaly border, in Ballinahown, near Athlone, Jennifer is no stranger to the big stage having won an All-Ireland ladies football title with Westmeath in 2011.

A newly-qualified doctor, Jennifer lined out at corner forward for the Lake County girls when they claimed All-Ireland intermediate honours six years ago by defeating Cavan after a replay in Croke Park.

The twenty-four-year-old also represented the Republic of Ireland in soccer at U17 and U19 level and at the World University Games and currently plays with Galway WFC in the Women's National League.
