The manner of yesterday's All-Ireland U-21 HC semi-final win over Galway was particularly pleasing for Limerick manager Pat Donnelly.

The Treaty County edged a Semple Stadium thriller on a scoreline of 2-23 to 2-19 and, shortly after the final whistle, the victorious manager told Newstalk's Off the Ball: "Any win is a great win.

"We'd have taken a point in a poor game but to win a good game of hurling, the way we won it makes it all the more pleasing.

"We were getting panicky, we knew when we got the goal, I honestly thought we were going to do the same and go and attack more. It fed into the players mentality as well.

"Galway, in fairness, went up and scored a goal immediately but look, we brought on a few subs and I think looking back at it now, that was crucial. They made a huge contribution to the last period of the game."
