Cork defender Damien Cahalane is adamant that his side has always worked hard, but added that their turn in fortunes is down to the experience that they have gained in recent years.

The Rebels have been something of a surprise packet this year as they picked up the Munster title beating Sunday's All-Ireland SHC semi final opponents Waterford along the way.

However, they have had little luck in the last few years and their performances were heavily criticised by even their own supporters. That has changed in the last few months though.

"Fellas have always trained hard, but I suppose you put that bit of experience with it too. The guys that are perceived as being the new guys were in with us last year and saw what it was like," Cahalane told the Waterford News & Star.

"The experience over the last few years has been huge in getting us to where we are now."
