The Galway hurling management saga is set to drag on for another week after a meeting between county board officials and the players failed to reach a resolution last night.

Galway GAA CEO John Hynes issued a short statement after the meeting saying that "further meetings will be held next week with the view of finding a satisfactory resolution". Anthony Cunningham is believed to be keen to remain on as manager, despite the players having passed a motion of 'no confidence' in him and his management team last week.

According to Galway Bay FM, 29 members of the Galway panel attended last night's meeting. The local radio station also understands that further consultations have been put on hold to allow players concentrate on this weekend's club championship action.

The statement reads: "Following a further meeting between Galway GAA Officers and the Senior Hurling Players, held this evening, it was agreed that ongoing consultation will continue and that further meetings will be held next week with the view of finding a satisfactory resolution. In the meantime, showing respect for all parties involved, no further statement will be issued by the Galway GAA, until the matter has been resolved."
