Liam Rushe won't miss the start of Dublin's 2016 hurling championship campaign.

The All Star centre back received a straight red card after striking Maurice Shanahan's faceguard with his hurl in the closing stages of Dublin's 1-19 to 2-21 All-Ireland SHC quarter-final defeat by Waterford last Sunday.

Rushe will now serve a one-match ban at the beginning of next year's Allianz League rather than at the beginning of the Leinster SHC.
