Lyster in line for July return

Michael Lyster

Michael Lyster hopes to be back on our TV screens by the end of next month.

The popular RTE presenter, who has anchored The Sunday Game since 1984, is on the road to recovery after suffering a heart attack at his Dublin home on June 5. Darragh Maloney has been presenting The Sunday Game Live programme in his absence.

Speaking on RTE Radio's Today with Sean O'Rourke, the 61-year-old Galway native said: "I'm feeling not too bad. It has been rough couple of weeks. I'm not clear yet, but getting there and I'm still above ground anyway which is the most important thing!"

Lyster indicated that he could return to work "in a couple of weeks' time."

He added: "I haven't yet put a date on it, but I've been talking to the lads in The Sunday Game about when I might come back."
