Cork minor hurling manager Denis Ring must plan without his captain Shane Kingston for the remainder of the season after he suffered a serious leg injury last night.

The Evening Echo is reporting that the Douglas dual player suffered a broken fibula in a challenge match against Clare and will be out of action for the foreseeable future. Kingston' loss to the Rebels cannot be understated. He was the star performer in their 2-20 to 1-13 Munster MHC first round victory over Limerick, a game in which he helped himself to 1-9 of the winning tally.

He will now miss Cork's provincial semi-final rematch with the Treaty County at the Gaelic Grounds on Wednesday, July 1. His injury is also a major blow to the Douglas minor, U21 and senior teams, which he is a part of.
