If the boot fits…

April 26, 2015

Young Offaly entrepreneur Shiofra Ryan is a step ahead of the rest with her new hurling boot design.

The 16-year-old Transition Year student at St. Brendan's Community School in Birr won the top award at the Student Enterprise Awards National finals in Croke Park this week.

Shiofra, who recently appeared on The Late, Late Show, took the overall Senior Category prize for 'An Tionchair', which is the Irish for 'Impact', which has patented designs on a boot for hurling and camogie players.

The talented teenager is already in discussions with manufacturers to produce her invention on a wider scale.

We wish her every success.
