Tipperary have received a major boost ahead of Sunday's Allianz Hurling League semi-final against Waterford with the news that Seamus Callanan has been cleared to play.

The star forward was issued with a straight red card in the quarter-final win over Offaly for striking, but has been exonerated by the Central Appeals Committee. The successful appeal comes after Tipperary had initially said that they would not challenge the one-match suspension.

A Tipperary county board statement last night read: "Following a meeting of the Central Appeals Committee tonight, Tipperary GAA County Board can confirm that Seamus Callanan won his appeal against his red card v Offaly and will be available for selection for this Sunday's League semi-final v Waterford."
