Connacht manager Micheál Donoghue believes the Interprovincial series couldn't have come at a better time for them.

Donoghue's side take on Leinster in the semi-final tomorrow (Saturday) in Nenagh (2.45pm) while Munster face Ulster in the other last four clash on Sunday in Thurles (1.45pm).

As Connacht are basically the Galway team in the provincial jersey, Donoghue gets the opportunity to run the rule over a number of new faces.

Speaking to the Connacht Tribune, he revealed that it would be ideal to reach the final.

"It's an opportune time to have a game and see where we are at," stated Donoghue.

"If we come through Saturday's test, we are out again in Thurles on Sunday which will also give us a chance to have a look at a couple of the new players we have brought in."

Note: The Interprovincial finals will not take place this weekend as Ulster's semi-finals have been put back to Sunday due to the funeral of Ulster GAA secretary Danny Murphy tomorrow (Saturday).
