Anthony Cunningham has returned to the inter-county scene less than six months after he stepped down as Galway hurling manager.

Galway Bay FM is reporting that the St. Thomas' man is the new Laois senior football coach, with O'Moore County boss Mick Lillis having brought him on board in the wake of his side's relegation to Division 3 of the Allianz League.

Cunningham, of course, is no stranger to the big ball code, having previously managed his adopted club St. Brigid's and Garrycastle to Roscommon and Westmeath SFC titles respectively. He also led Garrycastle to an All-Ireland club SFC final appearance against Crossmaglen in 2012.
