Yesterday’s Clare senior football championship clash between St Breckan’s and Cooraclare saw one of the most absurd goals scored to hand the former victory.

With three minutes to go, the sides were all square before Jack Sheedy’s goal was ruled out for a throw ball and Cooraclare looked to be off the hook.

However, the resultant free out came off a Cooraclare defender only to land right in the arms of Sheedy whom made the most of an empty net after the Milesians’ goalkeeper had pulled wide to give his defender an extra option.

The north Clare club won out by 2-8 to 2-6 in the end.
