Galway's Gearoid McInerney looks set to start Sunday's All-Ireland SHC final against Limerick.

The talismanic centre back missed the Tribesmen's semi-final replay victory over Clare after sustaining a calf injury in the drawn game.

However, The Irish Independent reports that the Oranmore-Maree clubman is winning his fitness race and should be in from the start for the holders at Croker this weekend as they put their title on the line against the Treaty men.

The 27-year-old has responded well to treatment and returned to light jogging last week before reportedly training with his colleagues over the weekend.
