Galway captain Damien Comer admits that he will be seeking a degree of revenge for last year's Connacht SFC final defeat to Roscommon.

Comer and his team mates can go some way to rectifying their defeat to the Rossies 12 months ago when the sides meet in this year's provincial decider on Sunday.

Roscommon have home advantage, but Comer is confident that they can produce the performance that will see them crowned champions and more importantly book their place in the Super 8s.

"We let ourselves down," was Comer's reply to the Connacht Tribune when asked about last year's provincial final defeat to Roscommon.

"You have to give credit to Roscommon as well. I thought Roscommon were very good on the day. Sometimes, if a team is below par, the other can wipe them out fairly handily.

"The year before, in the replay, it was the opposite way around. Roscommon were below par and we played well, and that showed in the result."

He added: "The biggest disappointment last year was that we didn't perform when we played Roscommon and one of the things we've drilled into ourselves this year is that we need to perform consistently.

"So, if we can get a performance on the day, it might be good enough to get us over the line, but if Roscommon are as good as they were last year, then it's going to be a serious battle."
